Course Overview

Children of Heaven | People of Earth is a guided, faith-based discipleship study designed to help believers understand and walk in the freedom Jesus Christ has already made available through His death and resurrection.

Beginning with the biblical story of creation, Eden, free will, the fall, and redemption, the course explores God’s original design for humanity as “children of heaven and people of earth”—created for relationship with God, purpose, family, and wholeness.

From this foundation, learners will examine why freedom is needed, how bondage and strongholds form, and how the enemy works through lies, wounds, sin, and deception. Through Scripture, prayer, reflection, and the leading of the Holy Spirit, participants will identify barriers such as fear, shame, pride, addiction, insecurity, unhealthy thought patterns, generational patterns, soul ties, inner vows, and unresolved pain.

This course is not focused on behavior modification or self-restraint alone. It is an invitation to leave wilderness living behind through surrender, repentance, healing, renewed thinking, restored identity, and ongoing transformation. Its purpose is to help believers live rooted in Christ, led by the Holy Spirit, grounded in truth, and marked by lasting freedom.

What You Will Study

This course presents the biblical story of freedom in a personal and practical way. Learners will explore:

• God’s original design for humanity and what was lost through the fall

• Christ’s finished work of redemption and the restoration of relationship with God

• What happens spiritually at salvation and throughout sanctification

• The relationship between the body, soul, and spirit

• How sin, wounds, trauma, lies, and unhealthy agreements create bondage

• How the Holy Spirit brings healing, renews the mind, restores identity, and leads believers into freedom

• How to recognize and address personal patterns that hinder wholeness

• How to build a sustainable, Spirit-led life of freedom in Christ

Learning Objectives

By the completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the biblical story of creation, the fall, redemption, and restoration.

• Explain how freedom begins with the finished work of Jesus Christ.

• Distinguish between bondage, self-restraint, and true Spirit-led freedom.

• Understand how the body, soul, and spirit are affected by sin, wounds, trauma, and wilderness living.

• Recognize the believer’s new nature, restored identity, and continuing need for sanctification.

• Identify common pathways into bondage and understand how strongholds develop.

• Replace toxic or deceptive thought patterns with the truth of God’s Word.

• Examine sin, pain, trauma, fear, shame, addiction, insecurity, and other areas of captivity with honesty, repentance, and hope.

• Understand how generational patterns, soul ties, inner vows, and unresolved relationships can hinder freedom.

• Practice confession, surrender, forgiveness, prayerful reflection, and truth-telling.

• Use a personal freedom journal to record insights, prayers, areas of healing, and evidence of transformation.

• Develop a vision for lasting freedom rooted in Christ, restored identity, renewed purpose, and daily partnership with the Holy Spirit.

Total Lessons: 27 self-paced lessons

Estimated Time per Lesson: 45–60 minutes

Suggested Completion Pace:

• 8 weeks: Approximately 3–4 lessons per week

• 12 weeks: Approximately 2–3 lessons per week

• 28-week devotional pace: Approximately 1 lesson per week

For individual learners, the 12-week pace may offer the best balance of momentum and reflection. Small groups, ministries, mentoring relationships, and discipleship cohorts may benefit from a slower weekly rhythm that provides additional time for discussion, prayer, and personal application.

Recommended Study Format

This is a freedom course, and it should not be rushed.

Learners are encouraged to move thoughtfully and prayerfully through each lesson, allowing time for journaling, Scripture meditation, prayer, and personal application. Because the content may awaken deep emotional and spiritual responses, adequate time to process what is being revealed is an essential part of the journey toward healing and lasting freedom.
